"The US government should change its mindset about China. Chinese companies could help to create jobs in the US, rather than what is feared - steal technology and jobs."

Li Zhongzhou, a senior trade and investment expert and former official of the Ministry of Commerce, commenting on a report published by Rhodium Group in New York. The report indicated that the European Union has attracted almost twice as much Chinese investment as the US in recent years. National security concerns will continue to be a serious challenge for Chinese investors in the US, unlike the less rigid rules in Europe, the report said.

"We've been in the same situation, please don't complain or be so worried as to emigrate. What entrepreneurs need the most is the spirit of adventure."

Wang Shi, chairman of Vanke, China's biggest property developer, saying that entrepreneurs should not be swayed by the growing uncertainties and should instead be adventurous enough to brave the odds. Wang said that if entrepreneurs emigrated, they would erase the positive effects of their contribution to China.

"Why can I not see a winner who is happy and affluent? It seems that good guys in China should be people who are poor and miserable."

Jiang Shu, a presenter with the China National Radio, says Chinese media often conveys the message that good people do not have happy endings. Her comments followed as Touching China, an annual program that honors 10 outstanding role models since 2002, gave awards to people such as a jet designer who died at work and a young teacher who lost both legs while rescuing her students.
