Zhang Laixi engraves a piece of lacquerware at his workshop in Yangzhou on May 25, 2017. Born in 1961 in Yangzhou, Zhang Laixi is a member of the China Lacquer Arts Committee and a senior artisan skilled in cinnabar carved lacquerware. Known as one of the top 10 outstanding craftsmen in Yangzhou, Zhang has also received a national labor medal and is a provincial inheritor of intangible culture heritage.
