Fang Zhouping has been supporting his family by making handmade cloth shoes for 37 years, in Libao village, Libao township, Haian county, Nantong city, East China's Jiangsu province.
"With the money I was able to save by selling cloth shoes, I was able to send my child to university and establish a family," Fang said proudly.
Fang's handmade cloth shoes are popular especially during festivals in Haian county, where people have a tradition of wearing new shoes in new year for prosperity and a new start.
Physically challenged Fang learnt to make cloth shoes at the age of 20. With wonderful craftsmanship, Fang makes the cloth shoes very light and comfortable, which are not only liked by local customers but also those in Shanghai and Suzhou.
