The company is exploring growth opportunities in China's autonomous driving market with a comprehensive lineup of sensors, including the industry's first and only-seriesproduced Lidar - a light detection system used in autonomous navigation.

China has set out an ambitious road map, estimating that half of all new vehicles produced in 2020 are expected to feature some autonomous driving functions.

Eying the potential in this area, Dutch company NXP Semiconductors, a first-timer at the Shanghai auto show, said it has signed a deal with Chinese company Hawkeye to explore 77 GHz radar technology in the country.

China's automotive radar sensor market is growing at around 40 percent year-on-year, nearly twice the rate globally, according to NXP.

"The collaboration with Hawkeye is evidence of NXP's confidence in the Chinese market and our determination to continuously invest in the country," said NXP President Kurt Sievers.
