ULAN BATOR -- A handover ceremony to donate Chinese literary works to Mongolian educational institutions and readers was held at the Chinese Cultural Center here on Thursday to celebrate the 70th anniversary of China-Mongolia ties.

A total of more than 1,800 copies of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," "Water Margin," "Dream of the Red Chamber" and "Journey to the West," or the four great classical novels of Chinese literature, as well as "The Three-Body Problem" written by Liu Cixin and four volumes of award-winning works of the 7th Lu Xun Literary Award were donated to 22 Mongolian educational organizations such as public and private universities and general educational schools, and more than 200 individuals.

Li Wei, cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia, said at the event that the donation is part of a series of cultural activities called "Feel China" to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mongolia.

"I hope that the donation will help Mongolians get closer to China's culture and literature," said Li.

Dolgor Tsendjav, chairman of the board of directors of the Union of Mongolian Writers, described the donation as a great opportunity to strengthen mutual understanding between the two peoples through literature.

"Chinese literature is one of the major literary parts of the world. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Chinese side for the wonderful gift," said Tsendjav.

As relations and cooperation between China and Mongolia expand, the number of people who want to learn about Chinese culture, language and literature has been increasing.

Tsendjav said around 100 Chinese literary works are expected to be translated into Mongolian in the next few years.

"I am very happy to receive the wonderful Chinese literary works on behalf of our school," said Dashdendev Namgar, director of the No. 133 Middle School in Ulan Bator. "I have no doubt that our pupils will devour the Chinese books, especially the science fiction novel 'The Three-Body Problem.'"
