"China is the only country to build entire cities at a time. The dream for individuals in cities has changed from 'one car per person' to undisrupted immediate access to movement."

Caritta Seppa is the COO and co-founder of Tespack, a startup that provides mobile energy solutions. She described the company's vision as ensuring that every human being becomes "masters of their own energy field."

She said together with the Audi Environmental Foundation, Tespack is bringing energy to further regions and empowering people working in a more sustainable way.

Ruediger Recknagel, managing director of Audi Environmental Foundation, said the company has "a responsibility for this world."

"We, as the Audi Environmental Foundation, want to be part of the solutions to the problems. I feel a growing sense for environmental protection and thinking green," said Recknagel, who is also chief environmental officer of Audi AG. "That's why green innovation is so important in our times."

Another highlight of the innovation summit was the finale of the Audi Innovation Lab. Since July, the lab has invited the best developers to submit their breakthrough ideas for in-car applications and digital services.

The winning team was a startup called Changba Caraoke. They would like to take the in-car entertainment experience a step further with a karaoke platform incorporating interactive and social media features that let users have fun together in traffic.

The Audi Innovation Lab is an initiative of Audi China to focus on Chinese customers' needs and expectations.

"The Audi Innovation Lab and the setting of this event are examples of our 'In China, For China' strategy being taken a step further," Wuest said.

Audi said it will bring the next generation of its open source platform Audi connect to the Chinese market starting with the new A4 L which launches at the beginning of 2020.

This android-based open source platform seamlessly integrates the car into the driver's digital life and will be available in 11 models in China by the end of 2020.
