5g itself doesn't bother me. I can think of some ways it could be really useful.

5g scares me because one of its justifications is that it will make the internet-of-things more pervasive. The internet-of-things scares me.

For a while, I kept on hearing how 5g/internet-of-things was going to make it possible for companies to collect more personal data. This possibility was presented as a good thing but it creeps me out. In my dystopian dreams, my refrigerator discovers that I am out of milk and auctions that information off to the highest bidder - who will then put a milk-add across my television.
