A reality show that invited celebrities, including singer Cai Guoqing, actress Shen Mengchen and singer-songwriter Zhang Wei, to be the wedding planners for nine couples from across China aired on Hunan Satellite TV recently.

The show, titled Chinese Wedding, aims to present the diverse wedding customs in the country and how young people work out the big day in their lives, exploring more possibilities in holding a unique wedding ceremony.

Its first episode put the limelight on how a young couple from the Miao ethnic group prepare for their wedding ceremony. With the support from professional wedding planner Hu Jingwen, the celebrities go to the hometown of the couple to learn about their local customs, Miao wedding clothing and other details that might help them to better design a wedding ceremony for the young couple. In this way, the viewers can also follow the wedding planning group to get more insight into the traditional customs related to marriage in the Miao ethnic group.
