"From the aspect of creation, we are never satisfied with the production. We always hope that it will get better and better."

Guo Songlan is a performer of the character Jinwu, a demigoddess who possesses the ability to foresee the future and has deep insight into heaven and earth. Bearing the heavy responsibility of safeguarding the celestial tree, she has been suppressing her own human side.

Jinwu, literally meaning "golden crow", is one of the divine birds found in Chinese mythology that is said to carry the sun during its daily ascent and descent. Artifacts with connection to the myth have also been unearthed.

"Based on the name of my character, the costume designer adopted mainly black and golden colors. But I've received audience feedback that my costume looked radiant, thanks to our lighting designer, who enriched the colors on the stage," Guo says.

High-tech elements are extensively used in the production, including curved screens and projection technology that allow for naked-eye 3D effects, aimed at creating an immersive theatrical performance and providing the audience with a unique experience.

The production features an international crew, including theater director Thom Southerland and set designer Morgan Large from the United Kingdom. They are joined by experienced Chinese theater practitioners, such as composer Hu Xiao'ou, playwright Wang Yong and playwright and lyricist Yang Shuo.

"We grounded the essence of the story in human emotions. I believe that human sentiments, especially great love, can transcend nationality, geography and time. This is also a core concept of our entire creative process. While love may involve sacrifice and devotion, its spirit can endure," Yu adds.
