Peru sees new port open

After signing a memorandum of understanding on the Belt and Road cooperation in 2019, China and Peru began construction of the Chancay port project in 2021.
The port is built by China's COSCO Shipping and expected to be finally inaugurated in November.
The port will also provide a new channel between Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region, saving about ten days of shipping time from Peru to China.
