A newly opened "Hello Xizang" mini theater at the Beijing Xizang Mansion has brought the rich traditions of the Himalayan region to the heart of China's capital since late February.

The theater debuted with its immersive performance Lhasa, Lhasa, a showcase of Tibetan intangible cultural heritage. It will last till May 15.

The production was a collaboration under the guidance of the publicity department of the Xizang autonomous region and the regional department of culture and tourism. It features a dynamic mix of traditional Tibetan opera, folk music, Tibetan lute, and ceremonial tea-serving songs.

"The melodies of the Tibetan lute and the vibrant colors of the dancers' robes made me feel as if I were standing in the sunlight of Barkhor Bazaar," said a Beijing resident surnamed Li who attended the premiere.

The mini theater is part of an initiative to promote Tibetan culture and bring the essence of Xizang — its landscapes, traditions and people — to urban audiences across China.

"This is a groundbreaking approach to cultural dissemination," said a spokesperson for the theater.

"By combining traditional culture with creative expression, we're breaking down geographical barriers and bringing the highland culture to the city."

The theater has already established partnerships with several cultural exchange organizations, aiming to expand its reach and promote Tibetan culture.

"Our mission is not just to let the world understand Xizang but to foster emotional connections through artistic resonance," the spokesperson added.
