The China Pavilion at the 2025 World Exposition in Osaka, which opened to public on Sunday as the expo officially started, is expected to bring together people from all over the world to create a more harmonious future despite rising protectionism and geopolitical uncertainties, according to analysts and officials.

The expo, which has attracted 158 countries and regions and seven international organizations, aims to inspire reflection and action under the theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives".

Highlighting the significance of the theme, Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, or CCPIT, said the Chinese government actively supports Japan's hosting of the expo, and the China Pavilion has been meticulously prepared by CCPIT in collaboration with various parties.

He stated that the architecture of the China Pavilion incorporates three major elements of Chinese culture: bamboo, Chinese characters, and scrolls. Its exhibition follows a narrative structure of "past-present-future", allowing visitors to experience the ancient Chinese philosophy of harmony between humanity and nature, appreciate the beauty of modern China with its clear waters and green mountains, and envision a future society where people and nature coexist in harmony.

Ren emphasized that among the many classic Chinese poetic lines inscribed on the exterior walls of the China Pavilion, one reads: "One flower alone does not make spring, but a hundred flowers in full bloom bring spring to the garden."

"Today's world, like the expo site, should be a vibrant garden of peace, friendship, sincere exchange, mutual learning, and flourishing diversity. International cooperation should be guided by the spirit of equal consultation and mutual benefit, actively promoting a more equal and orderly multipolar world and an inclusive and beneficial globalization," he said.

Dimitri Kerkentzes, secretary-general of the Bureau International des Expositions, believes the China Pavilion sends a powerful message, calling on people to work together and live in harmony both with nature and with each other as members of the global community.
