G20 Summit inspires reflection in the Global South

The biggest significance of this year's G20 Summit, set to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, is the opportunity for countries in the Global South to reflect deeper on their traditional relationships with the Global North. According to James Shikwati, director of the Inter Region Economic Network, a Nairobi-based think tank, the Global South may accelerate its shift toward emerging alternatives, such as BRICS, as new opportunities arise.
