The Danjiang Xiaosanxia Grand Bridge, celebrated as an engineering milestone, opened to traffic on Tuesday — reducing travel time between Henan and Hubei provinces while linking major tourist destinations.
The longest cable-stayed bridge in Henan province, the landmark bridge spans the Danjiangkou Reservoir with a total length of 919 meters and a main span of 536 meters. The bridge is a key component of the newly completed Mianchi-Xichuan Expressway segment, extending from Xichuan county of Henan to the Henan-Hubei provincial border, which was officially open to traffic on Tuesday. Featuring four lanes in two directions, the segment spans 24.838 kilometers and is designed for speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour.
