Dongfeng Nissan claims January sales crown

Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co, a joint venture between China's Dongfeng Auto and Japan's Nissan Motor, overtook Shanghai VW as the nation's top car seller in January in terms of monthly sales, an industry body said.

The Guangzhou-based joint venture sold 43,000 vehicles in January, up 10 percent from a year earlier, according to figures from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Shanghai VW, a joint venture between China's Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp and Germany's Volkswagen Group, sold 40,000 cars in January.
