Airlines agency: No plan for fuel surcharges

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said it has no plans to resume levying surcharges on jet fuel following a jump in oil prices, Guangzhou Daily reported Wednesday.

Earlier media reports said that many Chinese carriers, including China Southern Airlines, have requested CAAC to levy fuel surcharges after jet fuel prices went up by 1,030 yuan ($151) to 5,050 yuan ($740) per ton on June 30.

A director of CAAC cleared all speculations on Tuesday, saying: "We have not received any formal requests from airlines."
