Chinese PC giant explores Malaysian market

Lenovo Group, a major PC supplier based in Beijing, confirmed Friday that it had opened two concept stores in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This was the first time that the idea of global concept stores the Lenovo Group released recently was adopted by Malaysia.

The Chinese group believed the move would improve its retail image and expand its market share in Malaysia.

Upon the new move, the Lenovo Group now has 4 concept stores and 10 franchised counters in the southeastern Asian nation.

"Though the ongoing international financial crisis has taken toll on regional economies, demand for PCs in Malaysia is warm. Opening of the new stores helps fortify our determination to continue investing in the Malaysian market," said Chen Xu, Lenovo's vice president who is in charge of strategy and operation in emerging markets.
