Lucky number raises auspicious sum of cash

People in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, were dumbfounded when a car licence plate was auctioned for a stunning 1.66 million yuan (US$204,690) days ago thanks to its auspicious number.
The car plate, numbered C88888, finally went to a local businessman after over 30 rounds of bidding, who later revealed that he would place the plate on his newly purchased BMW sedan.
A total of 20 special licence plates were sold at the auction, raising a total of 4 million yuan (US$494,000).
