BEIJING - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will attend the opening ceremony of the Inaugural Annual Meeting of the New Champions -- from Davos to Dalian, known as the "Summer Davos", that will be held in northeast China's Dalian city from September 6 to 8.

This was announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao on Tuesday.

Liu said Premier Wen will give a speech at the opening ceremony of the meeting, sponsored by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The meeting will discuss such major issues as the global commercial environment, China's economic development and the going-out of Chinese enterprises.

More than 1,500 political figures, businessmen, scholars and media representatives from more than 80 countries and regions will attend the meeting.
