13 miners trapped in China colliery flood

CHANGSHA -- An estimated 13 miners were trapped in a colliery flood in central China's Hunan Province, rescuers said Sunday.

The flood occurred at around 5 p.m. Saturday in the mine owned by Sanjiaotang Town, Changning City. The mine managers did not immediately report the accident to authorities. The mine's boss has fled the scene.

A shareholder of the mine has been put under police watch.

Rescue operation is underway.
