New hi-tech materials base opens in Dalian

Dalian Huayuankou Economic Zone held an official business launch ceremony on Monday. The economic zone is expected to be a major base for new hi-tech materials, such as carbon fibers and aerial alloys.

The total investment in the area reached 30 billion yuan in the past year, according to Dong Chengfa, administrative head of the economic zone.

As one of the key areas in the Liaoning Coastal Economic Zone, Huayuankou is expected to enjoy rapid growth with strong policy support from the government, said Ren Zhiwu, deputy director of the High-tech Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission.

"Huayuankou may play a leading role among the seven state-level hi-tech new materials bases in China," said Ren.
