Moderate quake hits seas south of Taiwan

HONG KONG - A magnitude-5.5 earthquake jolted over the seas south of Taiwan at around 0720 GMT on Tuesday, said the Hong Kong Observatory.

The epicenter, 170 km south-southeast of Gaoxiong, was monitored at 21.2 degrees north latitude and 121.1 degrees east longitude.
