With the long-awaited blue skies back to central and eastern China, a sharp temperature drop will be the side effect with winds and snowfalls expected to hit some parts of eastern areas in the coming 10 days, the national weather forecaster said.

According to the 10-day weather forecast released on Friday by the National Meteorological Center, cold snaps will be frequent over the weekend, on Monday and from Wednesday to next Friday, bringing a dramatic temperature drop of up to 10 degrees.

From Friday to Wednesday, snowfalls will hit the Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces, the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and the Tibet autonomous region, along with strong winds. On Wednesday, some parts of southwestern Tibet will also be hit by snowstorms.

Meanwhile, Southern China is expected to see rain in the coming week.
