Doctors from top hospitals will provide voluntary consultancy and treatment to men with erectile dysfunction in more than 20 major cities in China this year, the China Sexology Association said on Feb 11.

The services is part of a program launched by the association and China Health Daily that day to promote sex health among Chinese men. The program also includes making use of new media platforms such as WeChat to spread knowledge and awareness of "sexual happiness" and conducting surveys on men for data on their sex health.

Chinese men in general are not satisfied with their sex lives, and they also lack awareness to keep them sexually healthy, said Jiang Hui, head of the andrology department of the Peking University Third Hospital.

"Only 17 percent of men on the Chinese mainland with erectile dysfunction go to a hospital for treatment, compared with 43 percent in Japan," he said.

According to a report released by China Sexology Association last year, only 37 percent of Chinese are satisfied with their sex lives, and 4 percent said they have no sexual desire at all.
