A report released on Thursday in Beijing said China needs to further improve its quality and efficiency to solve the problems of its manufacturing sector.

Researchers from the 2015 China manufacturing power development index report have collected detailed data of nine countries, namely America, Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Republic of Korea, China, India, and Brazil. On the basis of analysis on four main aspects - scale development, quality and efficiency, structural optimization, and sustainable development - the report points out that China's manufacturing sector kept growing from 2012 to 2014 despite a slower speed.

Jointly released by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the state strategic consultant committee for the construction of manufacturing power, the report aims to provide scientific advice for China to become a world manufacturing leader.

"The scale development index occupies an absolute dominant position for the increase. However, for developed countries, it is the quality and efficiency index that made dominant contribution – a symbol for them being manufacturing powers," the report writes.

In addition to the report, a series of books were officially published to give deep interpretation on China’s Made in China 2025 strategy.
