MOSCOW: Twenty people have been killed and more than 20 injured in an accident aboard a Russian nuclear submarine in the Pacific Ocean, the navy said yesterday.

The nuclear reactor, however, was intact and radiation levels were normal, a Russian naval spokesman said.

There were 208 people onboard the submarine when the accident, the worst submarine disaster since the Kursk sank eight years ago, occurred occurred on Saturday.
