Broadcaster issues statement: Lessons learned 'are deep'

A total of 71 people, including two senior executives of Central China Television (CCTV), who bear responsibility for a massive fire that engulfed a completely new CCTV building last February, have received punishments, the State Council announced yesterday.

Zhao Huayong, the former head of CCTV, and his deputy, Li Xiaoming, were both demoted following the fire, it said.
