Six people stood trial on Thursday accused of working together to blackmail government officials with secretly recorded sex videos in Chongqing.

The case, heard in Yubei District People's Court in Chongqing, has raised public concern as at least 15 government officials and six senior managers of State-owned enterprises have been punished for involvement in the sex tapes.

The suspects - Xiao Ye, Xu Sheqing, Yan Peng, Wang Jianjun, Zhao Hongxia and Tan Linling - were charged with extortion by the Yubei District People's Procuratorate on May 10.
