China needs to take immediate action to ensure that the rising number of senior citizens lead a life free of violence and abuse

On the occasion of the first legally prescribed national day of the elderly in China, which falls on Oct 13 this year, governments, communities and individual members of society have to make an important commitment, the commitment of ensuring that senior citizens live a life free of violence and abuse. Violence against and abuse of senior citizens should not be tolerated under any circumstances.
