Construction on a new railway bridge connecting China and Russia started on Feb 26, the first across the 2,981-km border shared by Heilongjiang province and Russia.

With an estimated investment of 2.6 billion yuan ($419.6 million) from China, the Tongjiang Railway Bridge is scheduled to be finished in 2016.

The bridge links China's northeastern railway network and the Russian Siberia Railway.
