Steps to be taken to tackle pollution from heavy use of aircraft as industry expands

A joint initiative by HNA Group, parent company of Hainan Airlines Co, and US group United Technologies Corp to build an open industry platform in China, encouraging environmentally friendly aviation, fits in with an urgent need to tackle air pollution caused by planes as the sector rapidly expands, an analyst said on Wednesday.

Last month HNA Group and the US company established a Green Aviation Initiative and Network in Beijing to build what they called a green aerospace ecosphere through the integration in the industry of low-carbon operations, innovation, manufacturing and consumption.
