Leading auto manufacturer GAC Motor has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve Administration and the World Wildlife Fund on a three-year environmental protection project, taking an important role in the development of China's first national park conservation plan.

The Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve, in Qinghai province, is China's most important freshwater source - containing the headwaters of the Yangtze, Mekong and Yellow rivers.

The Sanjiangyuan, which translates as "headwaters of the three rivers," is also one of China's priority areas in biodiversity conservation and home to large varieties of wildlife that provide a gene bank of rare plateau species.
