Target set for truck industry

China National Heavy Duty
Truck Group Co. Ltd (CNHTC)aims to be one of the biggest powers in China,
executives with CNHTC said today in Jinan, the capital city of China's Shandong
Province.
CNHTC, which has a yearly capacity of 30,000 heavy trucks, is the Major heavy
truck manufacturer in Shandong Province. By 2005, the province is expected to
turn out 150,000 heavy-duty trucks and buses, about 30 per cent of the country's
total, and by 2010, the figure is expected to top 250,000, according to the
provincial government plan.
CNHTC is co-operating with Volvo to upgrade its products, and the Qingdao
Automobile Factory of the First Auto Works (FAW), pushing Shandong to become the
country's largest truck producer.
