Chengdu popular among HK investors

Chengdu's High-Tech Zone and Jinjiang district won the title of "Mainland Investment Hotspot for Hong Kong" at an awards ceremony held in July 2012 in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The event was sponsored by Wen Wei Po, a Hong Kong-based Chinese language newspaper and the Overseas Chinese Media Cooperation Organization (OCMCO). More than 43 Chinese media outlets were involved in the vote. Chengdu, together with 14 other cities, was awarded the title of "Glorious City" and has become the most popular investment?destination in southwest China among HK investors.
The Chengdu High-Tech Zone began construction in 1988. It obtain ISO14001 and UKAS certifications in 2001, the first for high-tech zones in the country. Many world-renowned companies have settled in Chengdu, including Intel, Foxconn, Siemens and Phillips.
By May 31 this year, as many as 282 Hong Kong enterprises had started their businesses in Chengdu, with a total investment of $7.89 billion and a total registered capital of $4.3 billion.
