Beijing: The average suggested price for electricity generated by the Three Gorges Project has been set at 0.32 yuan per kWh, the Economic Information Daily said, citing sources with China's State Power Grid Co. The newspaper quoted an official with the company as saying the company is expected to sign sales contracts with some provincial power companies in Beijing in July and August.
It said the first batch of generating units will start operation in August, one month ahead of schedule, and the Three Gorges power station is expected to generate 5.5 bln kWh of electricity this year, 1.63 bln kWh more than the planned amount.
It added that of the 5.5 bln kWh, 2.62 bln will be transmitted to Shanghai, the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, 2.38 bln to the central provinces of Hubei and Henan, and the southern province of Hunan, and the remaining 500 mln kWh to the southwestern municipality of Chongqing.
