Xu Jianghai: a talented regiment commander

Xu Jianghai, commander of a pontoon-bridge
regiment of the Guangzhou Military Area Command, has made remarkable
achievements through diligent study: he is capable of operating 26 new equipment
of the regiment, and has solved over 40 training problems and made more than 50
innovative products. His regiment did pretty well in 12 aspects such as military
training and was commended by the general headquarters and the military area
command. Recently, he led the regiment to receive 7 examinations conducted by
the superior and performed excellently in all the subjects.
In 2001, Xu saw his gap in knowledge and capabilities from a drilling
failure, and recognized that, if a military commander did not update his
knowledge and fighting thought, he would find it hard to command a future
high-tech warfare. Therefore, he studied high technology diligently, reading a
lot of books like "Basic Knowledge on Modern High Technology", "Information
Warfare", "World New Military Revolution" and so on. Meanwhile, he worked hard
to grasp computer technology by actively participating in automatic operation
training and has acquired computer level certificate. Under his leadership, the
regiment has successfully developed over 10 systems and more than 20 military
application softwares, such as field command automation system, field personnel
assistant decision-making system and field information quick search system, made
more than 50 military training multimedia coursewares. Relating to the actual
condition of military training, Xu has published 38 academic papers on military
science, 18 of which have won awards in the army.
Xu integrated "non-touching battling", "soft killing" and many other new
military theories into the training of the new Outline of Military Training and
Evaluation and created many new training and fighting methods, which were tested
in the exercises under high-tech condition. To solve problems in military
training, a research team led by Xu made technological innovations and solved a
number of training problems like putting up pontoon bridge at night. Now the
complementary advantages of the new and old equipment of the regiment have been
given full play and the combat capacity of the regiment has been greatly
strengthened.
