Series of compound talents come out in Air Force

On a field mobile training site of an air force
division under the Beijing Military Area Command, Cao Tiezhu, who was just
shifted from a battalion commander to chief engineer of a regiment, used the
modern positioning system to locate the damaged equipment and implement field
repair by computer and make the new weapon regain its combating ability in a
moment. It's learned that in recent 3 years, the division attached importance to
fostering compound military talents and 44 commanders were chosen to join "the
one hundred scientific and technological talents project" and 65 scientific and
technological cadres went to the commanding position.
In recent years, in order to foster compound military talents, the division
changed the old method of recruiting bachelors of science from universities to
practice military expertise and employ graduates from military institutes to the
commanding position. Instead, the leaders of the division paid great attention
to both military commanding and military expertise cultivation so as to break
the circumscription between military expertise and commanding. According to
incomplete statistics, in the past 3 years, they've sent 7 excellent cadres to
study abroad and recommended 34 cadres to study for master degree in military
and science, 65 undergraduates to be trained in military commanding institute,
and organized 230 cadres to participate in the high-tech knowledge and expertise
training so as to promote the growth of compound talents.
In order to enhance the cultivation of the "integration of commanding and
expertise", at the beginning of 2001, the division launched "one hundred
scientific and technological talents project" to conduct cultivation of the
commanding personnel and technical talents and set up encouragement foundation
for scientific and technical talents. A postgraduate Qi Honglin majoring in
machinery and electronic engineering compiled a set of missile setup and
dismantling charts and published 3 academic thesis. After chosen by the "one
hundred scientific and technological talents project",he was appointed as
company commander of the "hero company". and was set as "pacesetter of company
commander" in the division.
