Official underlines unity of China worldwide

Unity with compatriots of
Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao and overseas Chinese is an important task of the
Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said CPPCC National
Committee Chairman Jia Qinglin Sunday.
Jia made the remark while meeting with a National Day sightseeing delegation
invited by the CPPCC National Committee. Members of the delegation include
compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as representatives from
the overseas Chinese community in Philadelphia, the United States.
This year is the first year the Chinese begin to build an affluent society in
an all-round way, a goal set by the 16th National Congress of the Communist
Party of China, Jia said, hoping the guests would grasp this opportunity to
advance their careers.
Solving the Taiwan issue and realizing the reunification of the motherland
are the common wish of Chinese people all over the world.
"We are willing to exchange views with political parties and people from all
walks of life in Taiwan on developing cross- Straits relations and promoting the
peaceful reunification on the basis of the one-China principle," he said.
The central government will stick to its policies on Hong Kong and Macao, and
make efforts to promote economic development, prosperity and stability there, he
said.
