(Xinhua)
Updated: 2004-07-27 02:14

Another two bodies were retrieved Monday in the collapsed coal mine in the southern province of Guizhou, increasing the death toll to ten, while nine other still missing.

A gas blast took place on July 14 at Tongzi County's Maolong colliery when 19 miners were working underground.

Local government organized the rescue operations immediately after the accident.

As of Monday afternoon, bodies of ten miners were found, but the whereabouts of the nine others still remained unknown.

The chance for those nine missing miners to survive is dim, said a rescue team official.
