China pledge to reward one-child rural families

China is extending a trial scheme of cash rewards for rural families who observe the one-child policy.

Several one-child rural families are offered a cash reward by local officials related to children planning system. China is pledging to reward the one-child families for sake of its population control national policy. [baidu.com]

Director of the State Population and Family Planning Commission, Zhang Weiqing, says the government will offer a reward for rural parents who have one child or just two girls when they reach the age of 60. The assistance lasts for life.

Experts say the system is intended to solve the worries of rural families about following the Family Planning Policies and bring real economic benefit to those who do.

The system was successfully piloted in several Chinese districts last year.
