IZMIR, Turkey, August 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Taipei was in the limelight by chalking up two tennis gold medals at the 23rd World Universiade on Saturday.

By lifting two titles in the women's doubles and mixed doubles, Chinese Taipei took the second place in medals table behind Russia, who clinched top two places in the men's singles and a gold in the men's doubles.

The remaining gold went to the Czech Republic through second-seeded Eva Hrdinova, who beat top seed Cho Yoon-Jeong of South Korea in the women's singles on Friday.

Seventh-seeded Artem Sitak and Evgeny Kirillov, both from Russia, met in the men's singles final. Sitak took advantage of powerful serves to lead 5-3 in the first set. In game nine, Kirillov broke Sitak's serve to trail 5-4. However, Kirillov lost game ten due to a double fault.

Sitak and Kirillov played a seesawed Set Two and the match was forced to a tiebreaker when Sitak turned the table to overcome Kirillov 7-4.

Top seeds Chuang Chia-Jung/Hsien Su-Wei of Chinese Taipei defeated Slovakian Katerina Basternakova/Stanislava Hrozenska 6-4, 6-3 en route to women's doubles champions.

In mixed doubles, top seeds Chuang Chia-Jung/Chen Ti of Chinese Taipei suffered an upset in the first set 6-7 (2), but rallied to beat fourth-seeded Lorena Arias/Victor Romero of Mexico 7-5, 6-1 in the following sets.
