衛(wèi)冕冠軍西班牙率先“出局”
2014年巴西世界杯B組第二輪的比賽中，西班牙0比2負(fù)于智利，小組前兩輪全敗提前一輪出局。

Spain became the fifth holders to be eliminated from the World Cup at the first stage after their 2-0 defeat by Chile at the Maracana on Wednesday.
當(dāng)?shù)貢r間周三，在馬拉卡納球場0比2負(fù)于智利后，西班牙成為世界杯歷史上第五個在小組賽就被淘汰出局的衛(wèi)冕冠軍。
在英語中，“被淘汰出局”可用be eliminated from/knocked out of表示，如：Spain was eliminated from/knocked out of the World Cup by Chile或者Chile eliminated Spain by 2-0.“衛(wèi)冕冠軍”在英語中多用defending champion表示，上文中的holders也表示同樣的意思，因為冠軍屬于球隊所有成員，所以用的是holder的復(fù)數(shù)形式。
另外，我們也可以用exit或head home來表示某支球隊出局、打道回府，如：Spain is the fifth holders to exit the World Cup’s first stage.（西班牙是第五個在小組賽就出局的衛(wèi)冕冠軍）或Australia is ready to head home after two losses at the group stage.（在小組賽遭遇兩連敗之后，澳大利亞將打道回府）
