在很多部電影中都聽到過這句話，雖然在日常生活中沒有用過，但是大家還是知道的好。它的意思就是“和……私奔”，或者再柔和一點(diǎn)：因?yàn)楦星榈年P(guān)系和另外的一個(gè)人生活在一起了。比如“杰克和他的前女友在一起了”就可以說成是 Jack ran off with his ex-girlfriend.
2. put the dog to sleep
這句話的表面意思是“把那只狗給弄睡了”，實(shí)際上可不是這么回事。這里的dog 可不是狗的意思。在美國俚語中dog可以指丑女人。整句話的意思就是“把那個(gè)女人給干掉”。
