One scene is filmed in front of the Gershwin Theater, where the Broadway musical Wicked is shown. Idina Menzel, the original leading lady in Wicked, is playing a major role in Enchanted, and Stephen Schwartz, the composer and lyricist for the musical, provides lyrics for the songs in this movie.
Likewise, there are scenes in Times Square, where you can see advertisements for the show Hairspray. James Marsden, one of the leading actors in Enchanted, also portrayed the character of Corny Collins in the 2007 remake that musical. An advertisement for Superman Returns is shown in which Marsden also stars. A Times Square billboard advertising the musical Rent appears; Menzel starred in the original Broadway cast of Rent and received a Tony nomination for it.
From the trailer, the animated parts of the film will be presented in a narrower aspect ratio than the live action parts. The only other Disney film to switch aspect ratios during the film is Brother Bear.
Giselle will be only the second redheaded Disney Princess, only Ariel from The Little Mermaid series coming before her.
Giselle is the first princess since Belle to have the same actress talking and singing the role.
Up-and-coming piano rocker, Jon McLaughlin, is slated to have a role in and provide music for the film.
