There are no prizes 獎(jiǎng)勵(lì) for guessing who the happiest player in the Premier League is this morning.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Jermaine Defoe will be pinching himself 捏自己（以確定自己不是在做夢(mèng)）to make sure he didn’t dream scoring five goals against Wigan on Sunday.

But Tottenham’s dream was a nightmare 惡夢(mèng) for Wigan who lost the game 9-1.

Defoe has now become only the third player in the history of the Premiership to score five goals in one game, and has surely booked his place 預(yù)訂了一席 in the England squad for South Africa, according to Spurs 熱刺 manager Harry Redknapp.

"[England manager] Capello will be impressed," said Redknapp.

"He's an amazing finisher. Wayne Rooney's fantastic - a complete all-round player - but as a finisher, Defoe is the best out there," Redknapp continued.

In footballing terms ‘a(chǎn) finisher’ is a striker 前鋒 who rarely misses chances to score.

Defoe’s goals mean he has leap-frogged 跳過(guò) the likes of Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba to become the Premier League’s top goal scorer.

Despite his fantastic tally 紀(jì)錄 of five goals, Defoe admitted after the game he was desperate to get a sixth and become the first player in the Premier League to score a double hat-trick 帽子戲法.

"I looked up and I saw there was another 15 minutes left so I was thinking I'm playing with fantastic players, I'm going to get chances," he said.

"It did cross my mind 出現(xiàn)在腦中，想起 if I could try and get another one," added Defoe, "but I suppose you can't complain getting five goals."

It would also be unreasonable to complain about achieving the second biggest thrashing 痛擊 in the league’s history.

Only Manchester United have done better, hammering Ipswich Town 9-0 way back in 1995.

Defoe is, however, determined to keep his feet on the ground 腳踏實(shí)地的 after Sunday’s goal-fest 進(jìn)球盛典.

"Now it is important for me to keep my head and to go back to training and focus on the next game," he said.
