In January, Microsoft (China) sued Shanghai Gome and Beijing Chaoyang District Buynow ("Buynow") over the infringement on its software copyright. Microsoft demanded the defendant to cease the infringing acts immediately and pay for the damages. According to Microsoft, there is ample evidence to prove that the computers sold in Shanghai Gome and two shops in Buynow are installed with pirated Windows systems and Microsoft Office. Buynow is required to take joint liability for its negligence in management and supervision.
