DRC Vice-President visits France

Ma Jiantang, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice-President of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), led a delegation to France from May 19 to 23 to attend the 2019 OECD Ministerial Council Meeting and the fifth China-France Roundtable Seminar.

Ma attended the fifth OECD Ministerial Council Meeting held at the OECD headquarters, and co-chaired the meeting with leaders from other countries. Ma delivered a keynote speech themed on “China’s experience and challenges in promoting inclusive development” in the first session of the meeting. Ma presided over the second session of the meeting and made concluding remarks, which were lauded by representatives of member states.

Before the meeting, Ma met with Mario Pezzini, Director of the OECD Development Center. They reached an agreement on the future cooperation between the two organizations, and signed a document reflecting their willingness to cooperate.

Ma attended the fifth China-France Roundtable Seminar themed “Policies to tackle an aging population” in Paris, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and also made concluding remarks.
Before the meeting, Ma met with Gilles de Margerie, Commissariat-General for Strategy and Foresight/France Strategy (CGSP).
Government officials and think tank experts from China, France and Germany discussed “pension issues and reforms” and “l(fā)ong-term care and medical care for the elderly”.
On May 22, the DRC delegation visited Val-de-marne provincial council and a care center for the elderly to learn about the local social security system and the operation of aged-care institutions. Ma also met with Brigitte Jeanvoine, Vice-president of Val-de-marne provincial council . Ma also met with Martine Durand, Director of Statistics and Chief Statistician of the OECD, and Chinese Ambassador to France Zhai Jun.
