Abstract: Innovation space has provided a significant growth pole for both regional and national development. Global innovation space can be roughly divided into three types according to the scale, namely, the metropolitan circle, innovative central cities and science and technological parks. Innovation space with different scales has be endowed with peculiar features and formed their strategic measures with significant implications. In the meantime, under the guidance of the overall strategies and development plans, the key for innovation space to gather its key elements, give play to the radiation of regional innovation development lies in establishing an innovation ecological system which is composed of innovation environment, talents, industries and system. To date, China has entered the new phase of pursuing innovation-driven high-quality spatial development, which calls for further efforts to further improve the innovation space planning system and strengthen the underpinning capacity of innovation space infrastructure, enhance its industrial competitiveness, foster a better talent attraction and cultivation system, boost the demonstration effect and promote the modernization of its development and governance.
