Lanzhou dance drama opens for folk art week

The classic dance drama, Dunhuang Dream, was staged at Lanzhou Waterwheel Expo Park in Gansu province on July 6, to mark the opening of the Fifth Lanzhou International Folk Art Week from July 6-11.

Around 150 artists from folk art troupes from Romania, Uzbekistan, Slovakia and China will give unique performances throughout the art week. There will also be 10 native Lanzhou folk art troupes including the Lanzhou Senior Art Group, who will perform at the expo.

"Our culture is the spirit of the city and the Lanzhou government aims to bring locals closer to other cultures so we can share our experiences," said Tao Minggui, head of the Lanzhou city's bureau of culture and tourism.

The event is jointly organized by Lanzhou government and Gansu Provincial Cultural Department.

The China (Lanzhou) Investment and Trade Fair is also being held in Lanzhou from July 8-11, and participants have the opportunities to enjoy the art week as well.
