Taiwan residents received a taste of Hebei’s rich art tradition at the “Hebei Culture’s Tour in Taiwan” folk art exhibition August 31.
Ten Hebei artists showed off their skills at booths in Hualian Cultural Center in Taiwan’s Hualian county.
Lily, a devoted Hualian fan of traditional Chinese painting, stood for more than an hour in front of the booth of painter Wang Liming to have a closer look at Wang’s skill in hopes of learning something from him. Lily said traditional Chinese painting is a gem of Chinese traditional culture and that fewer Taiwanese have the opportunity to learn about this great art form.
"I’m always craving outstanding works and talking to professional painters. Chatting with Mr Wang benefits me greatly,” Lily said.
Chen Maocai, the vice president of Hebei Calligraphy Association, also had a popular booth. After dipping it full of ink, Chen wielded his writing brush freely and easily on paper, with tender strokes.
"It’s Brilliant. Strength and tenderness are coupled so well in Mr. Chen’s writing that it has a natural rhythm,”? one Taiwan resident, Mr Gao, said. After learning of Mr Gao’s lives in northeast China and suffers from homesickness, Chen sent one of his works to the senior citizen. His kind act won loud applause from visitors.
